*Update* - Loco Pocos Island will be closed to everyone at midnight SLT tonight (8 July) for maintenance and implementing the event for opening tomorrow, noon SLT 9 July.
Wow! The past couple of days have been very hectic.
I am busy working on an awesome event for opening night, a huge scavenger hunt with a difference! If you are able to complete the hunt you will receive a FREE LOCO POCOS AVATAR, really! Not only is the avatar FREE, but it will only be available during events like this, I’ll never sell it!
You know what that means, right? You just have to get to Loco Pocos Island on the opening day, which is noon SLT 9th July.
Not only has scripting up a pretty cool hunt been keeping me busy, but wave after wave of awesome bloggers and journalists have been coming to Loco Pocos to check out the buzz. It’s buzzing alright! Loco Pocos is all over the internet!
Don’t believe me? Check out these awesome reviews posted only yesterday!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONTACT PERSONS: DAMIEN FATE or WASHU ZEBRASTRIPE
LOCO POCOS ISLAND - Damien Fate has gone out on limb, literally, to bring to the Second Life grid an interactive destination unlike any other.
On July 9, 2008, Second Life ™ residents will be able to experience, first hand, the magic that is Loco Pocos Island. The island is built with a story in mind, and visitors are invited to search the island for pages from the unfortunate Captain B. Bonnik’s journal. Each journal entry will piece together the history of Loco Pocos Island and will lead the visitor to secret locations where special tasks and rewards await. The centerpiece of the island is the mythical tree, Rokeden. With it’s rich texturing, imaginative design and Fate’s characteristic attention to detail, visitors to the sim will instantly become immersed in, and a part of, the fantasy that is the story of Loco Pocos Island.
Fate felt inspired to create Loco Pocos Island hoping to bring a unique experience to Second Life residents. “My dream was to create something new in SL, not with just a product, but a whole island experience. Something that is intuitive, bringing things to a whole new level and above all, bring everyone in SL together by removing all language barriers possible.” Fate continued. “Sims can be so much more than just a store, avatars can be so much more than just prims.”
Loco Pocos, which, loosely translated, means “crazy tinies”, are the inhabitants of this magical island. Each sculpted avatar, equipped with a user-friendly HUD, is meticulously detailed and textured. The Loco Pocos are infinitely customizable via the HUD for maximum personalization. Each avatar is able to emote and gesture via the HUD and wearing any of the multiple Loco Pocos accessories automatically updates the HUD with the appropriate customization options for that item.
The HUD itself is designed to offer maximum ease-of-use. The graphic icons are easily recognizable and a users manual, translated into seven languages, has been provided for those who prefer text based instruction. Overall, though, each avatar and it’s HUD was designed so that the end-user could visit the Island Store, purchase an avatar and begin exploring all of the island’s adventures within minutes.
Prior to beginning the Loco Pocos project, Fate worked with the Electric Sheep Company, playing a major role in the development of such notable projects as Ben and Jerry’s island, IBM Sentinel 2.0, and CSI:NY (tv shows and inworld game/machinima), independently developed a popular line of Final Fantasy avatars, and the mirada.smartHUD, an emotion HUD which, to date, has sold over 5,000 units.
Fate was joined in this endeavor by his partner and wife, Washu Zebrastripe. Zebrastripe is a beta lifetime member of Second Life and is the original creator of prim hair. Fate and Zebrastripe are also co-owners of the Hairspray Sim.
To kick off the Grand Opening of Loco Pocos Island, a massive scavenger hunt event will begin at Noon SLT on July 9, 2008. Visitors to the sim on this date will have the opportunity to win a unique avatar which will only be available during events at Loco Pocos Island.
For more information about Loco Pocos Island, please contact Damien Fate or Washu Zebrastripe or visit the Loco Pocos website.

Today I received the latest set of voices to be worked into the LOCO POCOS avatars and gesture packs.
The celebrity infused voices contain the talent of 4 celebrities and well known people of SL!
Paul Jannicola and Kerria Seabrooke of ILL clan fame, they worked on machinima such as The Grid Review and CSI, not only lending their awesome movie making skills but talented voice overs to these well known productions. Torley Linden (who needs no introduction!) and his wife, Ravenelle Zugzwang have both also taken part in giving the LOCO POCOS some cute voice sets.
With such a golden voice cast it makes me wonder, what other celebrities could I get behind the voice of LOCO POCOS? Phillip and M Linden, I am looking at you!

You may have heard that Loco Pocos island will have a story behind it, this is true!
In fact, I am currently working out the details of the story, which you will be able to follow by finding journals hidden throughout the island.
Most of the journals will be written by an unfortunate pirate, Captain B.Bonnik and his crew. Following these journals will teach you all about the mysteries of the island, lead you to finding secret places, treasure and more!
The journals also form a great basis for Role Play within Loco Pocos island - I can’t give too many details away, but let’s say you’re going to get involved!
I hope you all enjoy the story laid out for you!!

As you may know, Loco Pocos Island is set to launch on July 9th.
What you didn’t know is if you become a member of the LOCO POCOS group in Second Life, you will be granted entry to the island on the 6th July (this Sunday!)
That means you have 3 whole days to play around on the island and grab the avs before anyone else in Second Life!
So make sure to visit and make your friends jealous! Or even better, invite them to the group! Enrollment is free.

As I mentioned before, I was blown away by an awesome review Torley had posted, during which he mentions he is an aspiring voice actor.
So, I can happily say that Torley and his wife Ravanelle will be voicing a new male and female sound set for the LOCO POCOS avatars!
I absolutely can’t wait to see what they come up with, but I am sure it’s going to more fun than a basket of kittens :D

As you can imagine, not only have I been busying myself away on completing some remaining aspects of LOCO POCOS and the island, but I have also been trying to drum up some publicity in whatever time I find free.
This usually includes giving face to face demos and tours of the island to journalists which can span into the hours. Of course, I always have fun showing these people around, and it brings me great joy to see them also enjoying the experience.
Lately I had the pleasure of showing Torley and his wonderful wife around the island. I knew that Torley, being the fun lovin’ guy he is would get a real kick out of it, and this is evident in his recent review of LOCO POCOS.
I am really grateful to all those that experience LOCO POCOS and see it for what it is and can be, let’s get the word out - avatar evolution is here!
